How and When
Should You use the iPad?
- The iPad is a great tool that should be used for educational purposes. As shown, the iPad offers parents and educators with apps for language art skills, math skills, reading, writing, functional, social skills, how to deal with expressions and feelings, and most important provides nonverbal children with a voice!!
- Parents should make sure the iPad is used solely for educational and functional purposes. The iPad is NOT an escape opportunity for children. Like the examples show, children will be able to utilize these apps in a fun and interactive way and it will not feel like learning, it will feel like playtime.
- For educators, there are millions of apps out there that are not even on this list! Please find the appropriate apps and share them with fellow teachers and administrators to light up your students lives! Educate your students on the iPad, make them aware that it is not a toy but a fantastic learning tool that they are lucky to have. When you have nonverbal children who use programs on the iPad, educate yourself to further help your student. Educate the peers of your nonverbal students by explaining how the iPad to some students is a tool and not a toy!
